Once I heard someone
claiming that no one will be there to intercede before Allah on the Day of
Resurrection for any other, even Muhammad (P.B.U.H). I was shaken as how one
could shut the door of blessings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) on
himself by himself? This made me pen down this article because we could never seek
blessings of Allah and his beloved Muhammad (P.B.UH) unless we know how much he
is dear to Allah,
“None of you could become a Momin until I am dearer to
him than his children, his parents and all mankind.”
Bukhari and Muslim
Every
Muslim has two worries, firstly, his worries about worldly life and secondly
worries about his life after death. The worldly worries are different sorts of
fear, like fear of hunger, fear of money, fear of reputation, fear of death
etc. All these fears take him in state of depression and miseries. What is
opposite to miseries is mercy about which Allah says in Holy
Quran.
“And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], except as
a mercy to the worlds.”
Surah
Al-Anbiya (verse 107)
Here Allah
opens the door of His blessings i.e.
Hazrat
Muhammad (P.B.U.H) is the one who is as a mercy, as a blessing, for all the
beings not only in this world but in all the worlds Allah knows and truly if we
take a look at history, we see not only humans but animals, trees etc. are
bestowed by his love and mercy. Imam
Abu Dawud narrated on the authority of Abdullah Ibn Ja'far who said, "One
day I was riding behind the Prophet (SAW) and he told me secretly about a
matter, which I should not mention to anybody at all. What the Messenger of
Allah (SAW) liked most to hide behind (while relieving himself) was an elevated
piece of land or a winding group of palm trees. One day, he went inside a
garden which belonged to one of the Ansar and there was a camel, which upon
seeing the Messenger of Allah (SAW) started weeping and tears fell from its
eyes. The Prophet (SAW) went to the camel and rubbed his ear, and so the camel
became quiet and stopped crying. The Messenger of Allah (SAW asked, "Who
is the owner of this camel?" A young man from the Ansar came and said,
"It's mine O Messenger of Allah." The Prophet (SAW) then said to him,
"Don't you fear Allah regarding this dumb animal, which Allah gave you as
your own property? The camel complained to me that you do not give him enough
food and that you force him to work until he gets too tired." The point of great importance in the verse above is what
Allah is stressing upon that is, sent him as NOTHING EXCEPT MERCY. Not only this
this but to elaborate how to make personal connection with the Holy Prophet
(P.B.U.H), Allah says,
“Undoubtedly, Allah praises
the Prophet, and His angels. O you who believe!
Ask [Allah to confer] blessing upon the Prophet”.
Surah Al-Anbiya (verse 107)
Allah is free from doing any
deed, but what He says here is that He Himself sends blessing upon his beloved
Muhammad (P.B.U.H) and takes one of his best creations, the Angels, and the
best of the human, the Momineen, to praise Muhammad (P.B.U.H).
Now what comes in mind is that is the love of Allah and Muhammad
(P.B.U.H) a source of blessings in the worldly life only? The answer is in the
following Hadith narrated By Anas bin Malik: A man asked the Prophet about the
Hour (i.e. Day of Judgment) saying, "When will the Hour be?" The
Prophet said, "What have you prepared for it?" The man said, "Nothing, except that I love Allah and His Apostle." The Prophet said,
"You
will be with those whom you love."
Bukhari Vol 5, Book 57,
Hadith 037
So here resolves the worries of a Muslim that if he had loved
Allah and Muhammad (P.B.U.H) all his life, he will be with them on the Final
Day. The blessings of Muhammad does not end here because he is not a blessings
for just those who loved him but also for those who had committed major sins in
their life for he is mercy for all,
“My intercession on the day of judgment is for those among my Ummah who
have committed major sins.”
Sunan Tirmidhi, Vol. 2, Page 66,
Hadith 2623
What we should now focus on is to realize how to love Allah
and His Prophet? Well, when one loves someone, he follows him. So is the case
here, to love Allah and His Prophet we should act upon the Prophet’s teachings
and serve mankind. Serving mankind i.e. becoming ABDH (servant) of humanity is
the highest degree near Allah because it is ABDH who has gone to Mairaj,
“Holy is He Who carried His servant by night from the
sacred Mosque to the Aqsa Mosque (Aqsa) around which We have put blessings
that We might show him Our grand signs.”
Surah Al-Isra (verse
1)
What we are lacking is this spirit to
serve mankind. Serving others selflessly is what the Prophets have been doing
themselves and teaching their followers also. Thus one should first try to
serve others in his own capacity, as this can then lead to serving nation at
big scale and at more larger scale, serving Muslim Ummah.
